The theme of Our Global Youth Day was termed Apo HomeComing Sabbath, It was aimed at The Ministry of yesterday and The Ministry of Today; The way Foward. A symposium was carried out during the 2nd segment of sabbath school Which was anchored by Master Guide Chinedu Ogbo & Sis Joy Innocent. The people who were invited to discuss on the topic were Mg Judith Osas, Fmr 1st Eld Apo Church Eld Nnadozie Ukaenyi, Current 1st Eld Apo Church Eld Mike Osaro & Youth Director/ Communications Director Mg Monday Raphael With Fmr Youth Director Deaconess Mg Enwereji Where their focus of discussion was the need for Guidance from the Old Generation on the new current generation of youth leadership, Ms Judith highlighted that the new generation (Gen Z) have turned out worse than the previous generation due to lack of proper use of the internet highlighting how most youths spend more time online than gaining real life skills, Mrs Enwereji also mentioned that there has been a decline in intelligence of the current generation 🤔 due to excess use of the internet, They also mentioned how most youth have based their life on their online presence than getting engaged physically in whatever environment they might have found themselves which makes it seem like they are uninvolved in a lot things going on in the church & their environment or nation as a whole, Eld Nnadozie also mentioned how his kids on their way home preferred using a laptop to watch a cartoon than engaging in meaningful conversations with their father, He also mentioned how he had wanted to caution them but refused to speak on the matter and allowed them to continue without interfering, He complained that it makes the kids uninterested in the current happenings in thier environment, Eld Mike Osaro was also in on the matter where he mentioned how there has a been a decline in the intelligence and strength of this current generation, He complained how kids of nowadays engage in a lot illicit activities online like porn, Watching excessive drug use videos, Reading a lot of explicit articles online and even joining explicit or nude groups online, Engaging in gambling activities, He recalled how during his younger days he wasn’t really invested in youth activities in the church because he had was usually late and avoided joining youth activities, He claimed that it wasn’t until he became an Elder of the church he had the privilege of joining the Adventist Youth Ministry, He urged parents and Youth to return to older ways of doing things, That it will be both beneficial for the Youth now & in the future.
Mg Chibuike also reminded the Church on the real Meaning behind the pathfinder law pledge reminding the youth of Apo church on the importance of remembering & practicing the Pathfinder law & pledge in our daily lives.
